Kayak Youth Development
(KYD)
The RCC offers two programming options; FUNdamental's and Developmental's
FUNdamental's: Learn boating and water safety skills in the pool or on the lake. FUNdamentals is an encouraging environment offering paddle skills that are transferable to canoeing, SUP and other water craft activities while building fitness and having FUN! Parents are welcome to help out in the water and on deck/shore with equipment.
Ages 7-11
Developmental's: Is the next step into intermediate strokes, maneuvers, learning to roll and sport specific skills (slalom, canoe polo and freestyle). We then take this knowledge out onto open water and finally the river! All instructors are NCCP CanoeKayak Canada certified instructors. The Development KYD's have the option to tryout for the Alberta Summer Games for Canoe/Kayak.
